I became involved with MAVT as a student member in 2000. I volunteered at the booth, proctored for speakers and “modeled” during the fashion show that used to take place during the convention social hour. In the past I was chair of the Public Relations and Scholarship (ne Education) committees. I am also a member of the Practice Act committee.

I have worked at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center since 1999. I love the diversity in the cases we see. Over the years I have worked in many areas of the hospital and am currently a float technician. This means I get to do a little bit of everything, which is great! My husband Randy and I have a rescue calico, Yiddo, and an Alaskan Malamute named Charlie (as in, “Charlie bit my finger”). In my free time I enjoy reading and playing video games. I’ve played the piano since I was seven years old and also love to hike, camp and spend time at our cabin or on the North Shore. Some day I hope to take up skijoring with Charlie but I’m still too scared to get up on skis behind him!

If you’re curious about MAVT make the jump and get involved! Attend a meeting or join a committee. The time commitment is not high and I really enjoy spending time with technicians around our state that I wouldn’t meet otherwise. And I promise we don’t bite.
