I am “The Voice” Newsletter Editor for MAVT. My primary responsibilities are to review the content sent to me (board members’ articles, job postings), list the committee members and their contact information, pass along address changes to our Membership Chair, and research articles. I became involved with MAVT shortly after I moved to Minnesota and began work for Dr. Butman, DVM, at Glen Lake Animal Hospital (subsequently, another couple of clinics over the years). I began by attending the convention and then started to help out at the registration desk and proctoring.

I attended and received my degree in Animal Health Technology & Business from National University in Rapid City, South Dakota. Upon graduation, my first job was at South Dakota State University in the Microbiology and the Virology Departments. I lived and worked in Missouri for three years after that, and before moving to Minnesota.  Currently, I work for a health clubs/fitness facility (where I teach group fitness classes, swimming lessons and occasionally lifeguard) and as a Relief Veterinary Technician. I also, volunteer at church, my daughter's school, a therapeutic horse riding center, and with both the MNVMRC (Minnesota Veterinary Medical Reserve Corp) and the Carver County MRC (Medical Reserve Corp).

My husband, Shannon, and I live just outside of Chaska. We have two daughters – Sarina, who is a junior at South Dakota State University (Brookings, SD) and Becca, who is a senior at Chanhassen High School. “Fur children” in our household are two Llewellyn Setters – “Champ”, who is 7½ years-old, and “Ranger”, who is 5½ years-old; “Stormie”, is our 12 year-old humane society rescue DSH - dilute Tortoise-shell (or, Blue-point Tortie). Two fish tanks with various types of fish round-out our family. Besides enjoying everything I do, I love to draw & paint, read & write and horse-back riding.
