Join us for our August Tech Tuesday Talk: Tech Tuesday Talk: Tracheostomies: The Role of the LVT Do you feel comfortable caring for a patient with a tracheostomy tube? For the majority of us, patients with tracheostomies are a rare occurrence. You may find the thought of taking care of such a patient intimidating. In this course, we’ll describe how a tracheostomy tube is placed and what the technical staff can do to help. We’ll then go into detail about patient care, tube management, and potential complications. Speaker: Travis Bruns, CVT, VTS (Anesthesia & Analgesia) | | Travis brings a wealth of specialized expertise in veterinary anesthesia, with a particular interest in managing patients with heart disease, advanced dental conditions, and exotic animals. As an anesthesia technician at the Animal Emergency & Referral Center of MN since 2015, Travis has become a recognized authority, frequently speaking at conferences across North America and featured in webinars for prominent organizations such as The Veterinary Support Personnel Network (VSPN), North American Veterinary Anesthesia Society (NAVAS), and The Australian College of Veterinary Nurses (ACVN). A certified veterinary technician in Minnesota, Travis also holds a Master of Liberal Arts from the University of Hartford. He is deeply committed to the belief that optimal veterinary care stems from mutual support and teamwork among professionals, a philosophy he actively champions through his AVTAA affiliation. Outside of his professional life, Travis has a fascinating background, having spent a decade as the principal double bass player with the Connecticut Lyric Opera. |
