MAVT Scholarships

MAVT Awards 6 Scholarships per year.  

 

$5,000 will be awarded through the veterinary technician schools listed below and $1,000 through the Mollie Jean Mahowald Scholarship

Mollie Jean Mahowald Scholarship Award 

 

The Mollie Jean Mahowald Scholarship Award - MAVT awards 1 - $1,000 Scholarship

Application Form  must be completed by January 4th, 2026 at 11:59pm CST. 

  1. Eligibility: Applicants must be enrolled and in good standing in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program located within the five-state Midwest area, or in an AVMA-accredited online program. This scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated involvement in student association chapters, charitable organizations, or military service.

  2. Membership: Scholarship recipients will be enrolled as student members of MAVT and receive all membership benefits for the duration of their enrollment year.

  3. Academic Requirement: Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  4. Program Progress: Applicants must have completed at least 50% of their program requirements.

  5. Required Documentation: The following materials must be uploaded with the application:

    • A copy of your current transcript.

    • A letter confirming good academic standing from a faculty member, school organization advisor, or an unofficial transcript from the AVMA-accredited program in which you are enrolled.

    • Documentation of community involvement, volunteer, or military service, including confirmation from a volunteer coordinator verifying reliability and hours completed within the current calendar year.

Award Presentation: The scholarship recipient will be invited to the MAVT Annual Business Meeting held during the MVMA/MAVT Conference (January 28–31, 2026) and introduced to MAVT members in attendance.
