Diversity is, diverse!

One of the best experiences I am able to have is to participate in College & Career Fairs, Healthcare and STEM presentations and just being able to take a wide-eyed teen on a tour of our VMC facility or providing them some scrubs for a brief shadow day, is a joy for me!  This is something I have relished in for decades but it launched officially in 2022, as I split my 26 yr, ICU gig, (almost entirely covering 3rd shift!) which is now a full-time Diversity Initiative with our Hospital Director, Pat Berzins.  Who will soon be retiring after more than 40 yrs at the VMC!!! Well done, Pat and thank you Super Surgery Tech!!!!

Together, Dr. Abi Maynard, Dr. Emily Coffey and I have the privilege of sharing our love and passion for animals, science, research and healthcare with awesome students who just might find their way into this vast, incredibly fulfilling, personal growth & knowledge-stretching field of veterinary medicine!!

Think about what your passion is and what drives you in this field. You are appreciated and our clients and their critters need our skills and compassion. Let's find the balance and remember to include ourselves in our compassion, so that we can lead the way for our next generation!!
