Brooke Drassal-Creighton, CVT, CERP 

Brooke Drassal-Creighton is a Certified Equine Rehabilitation Practitioner, Veterinary Technician, and Equine Massage Therapist with a focus in Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) for equine athletes. With decades of experience in the equine industry, growing up on an Arabian breeding farm to working with elite sport horses. Brooke brings a deep understanding of integrative, team-based equine care. She owns and operates a successful equine bodywork business on the west side of the Twin Cities, collaborating closely with veterinarians, farriers, and trainers to support equine performance and recovery.

Current and Future Applications of Equine Massage and Functional Electrical Stimulation in the Veterinary Technician Role

Description: 

This interactive, live CE session introduces equine veterinary technicians to the theory, application, and benefits of equine massage therapy and Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) in a clinical setting.
Participants will explore how these modalities complement veterinary care, improve equine athletic performance, and support rehabilitation.

Through video demonstrations, PowerPoint presentation attendees will learn how Brooke safely and effectively integrates massage and FES into team-based equine healthcare plans. The session will also highlight collaboration with veterinarians.

Program Objective:

  1. By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
    Explain the basic principles and physiological effects of equine
    massage and Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES).
  2. Identify common clinical and performance scenarios where
    massage and FES may enhance veterinary care plans.
  3. Understand the legal and ethical scope of practice for veterinary
    technicians in the use of massage and FES modalities.
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of client education techniques to support
    compliance and improve equine wellness outcomes.
  5. Recognize opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration in
    equine sports medicine and rehabilitation.
